This client is one of Asia’s most respected integrated steel producers, with an annual capacity of 4 million tonnes. The plant caters to demanding global sectors, producing plates, pipes, and coils that are used in applications ranging from pipelines and pressure vessels to shipbuilding and structural steel. The company maintains a reputation for delivering high-quality steel that meets strict international specifications, and its customers include some of the world’s most quality-sensitive industries.
Client Requirement
To support its global commitments, the client’s internal quality requirements are stringent. The lab team is expected to deliver:
- Accurate elemental readings, including light and gaseous elements like Carbon, Sulphur, Phosphorus, Nitrogen, and Oxygen, some at sub-ppm levels.
- Consistent results across three shifts, with multiple teams and operators handling testing duties.
- Rapid turnaround time to avoid delays in dispatch, ladle processing, or casting.
- An OES that can run 24×7 with minimal intervention, without frequent recalibration or maintenance.
Traditional OES systems struggled in this environment, especially in terms of calibration downtime and long-term stability.
