This September, Metal Power Analytical joined industry leaders at the Spain Foundry Congress 2026 in Bilbao. Organized by Metalspain.com and FUNDIDORES magazine, the annual congress serves as a vital touchpoint for foundry, die casting, and additive manufacturing professionals across the Iberian Peninsula.
A major highlight of our participation was a technical presentation by Dr. Arun Kannath, our Head of Research & Development. Titled “Driving Innovation in Arc/Spark OES Technology,” the session took a deep dive into one of the most notoriously difficult measurements in foundry quality control: carbon analysis in cast and ductile iron.
As Dr. Kannath outlined, getting carbon measurement right is non-negotiable. The carbon content dictates graphite formation, influences the metal’s overall castability, and ultimately determines the mechanical integrity of the final product.
For over 30 years, our R&D teams have focused on solving exactly these types of everyday analytical bottlenecks for metallurgists. Participating in the Spain Foundry Congress provided a fantastic opportunity to share our latest engineering advancements, exchange knowledge, and better understand the evolving needs of foundry professionals in Spain and Portugal.
